Sip to Your Health: Golden Turmeric Coffee Recipe

This coffee recipe with natural immune-supporting herbs can be made iced or hot and combines comforting seasonal flavors with the anti-inflammatory benefits of turmeric. (And, you’ll love the rich, golden color!)

Health is always on our minds as we transition into cooler weather. As a result, more people are looking for ways to incorporate natural immune-supporting ingredients into their diets. This has led to what we can best describe as a “comeback” for a trusted culinary staple – turmeric. From ice-cold smoothies to piping hot soups, you can find just about any type of recipe online today that puts this golden, flavorful spice front and center. Even coffee lovers have taken to this trend, with turmeric coffees and lattes popping up just about everywhere. So, we partnered with one of our favorite influencers and coffee lovers, Hannah York, to create a new turmeric coffee recipe that’s equal parts delicious and healthy. And, we think it’s going to become one of your favorite fall recipes!

What is Turmeric?

You probably know turmeric as the orange-colored spice that’s the main flavor-driver in curry. But it also has a long history of being used for its anti-inflammatory and antioxidant potential. So, not only is turmeric a great addition to recipes due to its distinct flavor and color – it’s also packed with potential health benefits.

But…Turmeric Coffee?

Turmeric and coffee may seem like an odd couple, but it turns out that they go quite well together. While its coloring is bold and its flavor distinct, turmeric is actually a mild spice that goes well with the bitter undertones of coffee. It also combines nicely with milks and creamers (remember, curry is often cream-based), making a turmeric latte another tasty coffee treat. And, there’s something about the flavor of turmeric that pairs perfectly with the season of falling leaves!

At Wildcrafter, we love coming up with new recipes that combine the wellness benefits of our botanical blends with other healthy, natural ingredients. So, we asked Hannah to come up with a new recipe featuring Immune Shield blend with turmeric and other ingredients to deliver on both fall-inspired flavors and immune-supporting benefits. Let’s take a look at the amazing ingredients she chose:

  • Turmeric: by now, you know that this amazing spice has potential anti-inflammatory and antioxidant benefits while providing a warm flavor and rich golden color.
  • Maple Syrup: this familiar flavor offers a healthier way to sweeten versus refined sugar or calorie-heavy artificial syrups.
  • Cinnamon: this favorite fall spice is loaded with health benefits due to its antioxidants and anti-inflammatory properties. And, its flavor profile pairs beautifully with turmeric.
  • Nut or Oat Milk: whichever option you choose, both are lower in calories than regular milk and are also naturally vegan and dairy-free.

The centerpiece of this recipe is our Immune Shield blend, which combines the power of Reishi Mushroom, Astragalus, and Elderberry with 100% organic Arabica coffee to help support your body’s healthy immune system. You can also use any of our other blends based on your personal preference.

Golden Turmeric Coffee

INGREDIENTS

  • ½ Tbsp Turmeric
  • 1-2 Tbsp Maple Syrup
  • ½ tsp Cinnamon
  • 2 Tbsp Maple Syrup
  • ½ Cup Nut Milk or Oat Milk
  • 1 Cup Wildcrafter Immune Shield Brewed Coffee


DIRECTIONS

For Iced

  1. Add milk and spices to a bowl and use a whisk or handheld milk frother to combine all of the ingredients.
  2. Take a sip and adjust sweetness to preference.
  3. Add the brewed Wildcrafter Immune Shield to the blended ingredients.

For Hot

  1. Add milk to a saucepan and bring to a light simmer (alternatively, use a milk frother).
  2. Once simmering, stir in all ingredients except for the coffee and whisk to combine. Adjust the sweetness level if necessary.
  3. Add the brewed Wildcrafter Immune Shield to the blended ingredients.
